Lapacho has hard, heavy wood of high quality. The inner bark layer is also suitable for preparing tea: the Incas already used aqueous extracts of the bark, and later the indigenous peoples of Peru, Bolivia and Paraguay adopted lapacho infusion as both a medicinal and an enjoyment tea. In addition to potassium, calcium and iron, lapacho tea also contains trace elements such as barium, strontium, iodine and boron, but no caffeine.
